Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Chiropractic Coverage in Alberta
If you’ve been injured in a motor vehicle accident, Alberta’s auto insurance system provides pre‑approved chiropractic care under the Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols Regulation (DTPR).
For minor injuries (such as sprains, strains, or whiplash):
Your auto insurance covers a minimum of 10 and up to 21 chiropractic treatments, depending on your injury classification.
All approved chiropractic treatments are directly billed to your insurance company – you do not need to submit receipts or wait for reimbursement.
To ensure your care is covered, please tell your chiropractor immediately that your injury is related to a car accident. We will complete the required forms and handle the billing process on your behalf.
Additional Chiropractic Coverage for More Serious Injuries (Section B)
Beyond the minor‑injury protocols, every Albertan is entitled to $1,000 in chiropractic benefits under Section B for more serious injuries.
